Showdeo showcases the talent, animals, and facilities of Lazee G Ranch

by Garrett Fodor

The riders and horses at Lazee G Ranch had the opportunity to showcase some of their many talents during the annual “Showdeo” event held over the weekend.

Community members were invited to attend the annual Shodeo, a cornerstone of the Ranch’s summer calendar and a major attraction for the farm. The event provided attendees with a unique opportunity to explore the farm and enjoy a thrilling two-hour performance in an outdoor arena on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.

Highlights of the Shodeo included performances by the Silver Stars Precision Drill Riding Team, captivating displays by the Rising Stars Riders, graceful vaulting demonstrations, and exhibits.

“To me, it’s just special to have our riders out there performing, being supportive and learning to see what they can branch off to,” Jamie Gagnon, daughter of Founder Brenda Gagnon, who helps to run the family farm. “It’s a family farm here and it's nice seeing so many people create lifelong friendships here and even remain involved with the farm 30-years later.”

Outside of the performances from the riders and their horses, some of the performers also showcased their singing capabilities, along with their rhythmic coordination through various dances.

Both weekend performances also featured the Border City Barkers agility club, which not only showcased their capabilities, but put on a race against the dogs and horses.

In total, Gagnon noted that nearly 25 riders and numerous volunteers played a part in the event. She is incredibly grateful for the large turnout and the support the riders received across both viewings.

“We are grateful for everyone who came out and attended, as well as those who visit the farm, have events, tour, or take part in our camps,” Gagnon said. “As a family farm, we are excited to share our passion and our animals with the community. The support helps us support what we do.”

Looking ahead, Gagnon noted Lazee G is continuing to host school tours, birthday parties, and summer camps. She noted they are looking to plan another scavenger hunt around the farm in the coming weeks. This will provide an opportunity to give attendees an up-close look at the animals, including a chance to see some of the new additions, like the ducklings.
