There was plenty to do to celebrate Family Day on Monday in Essex.
Thanks to the Town of Essex, and with financial support from SWARG In Motion and Pathway to Potential, area residents were able to head down to the Essex Recreation Complex to enjoy a leisure swim with the little ones in the morning, the many activities setup as part of the Family Day Fun Zone, and a recreational swim in the afternoon.
The events hosted at the Essex Recreation Complex were offered to the community free of charge, though the Family Day Fun Zone did require pre-registration, so Town of Essex Recreation staff could prepare for the demand. Between the three, one-hour Family Day Fun Zone sessions, 250 individuals enjoyed the obstacle course, crafts, two bouncy castles, face painting, and parachute games.
In addition, for a nominal fee, families also had the opportunity to head over to the Essex Centre Sports Complex or the Harrow & Colchester South Community Centre to enjoy a variety of skate sessions.
The Town of Essex was proud to offer the Family Day activities to the community, Sarah Newton said, who is the Assistant Manager of Aquatics. It is a way to bring families together and keep families active over the winter months. It is also a great way to get new individuals into the Recreation Complex to learn about all the programs and activities the Town of Essex’s Recreation Department offers.
