Spring has sprung, bringing with it April showers, plenty of excitement, and new members of the “family” around Lazee G Ranch.

In celebration of the warmer weather, those at Lazee G Ranch were excited to open the gates to the farm to host an Education Day and open house on Sunday. The day allowed patrons a chance to see the animals up close, including baby bunnies, guinea pigs, goats, and a donkey.

“It’s truly rewarding just getting to open everything up and show people from Windsor-Essex our family farm, since this is where we were raised. And now, as our children grow, we get to have them more involved as well. It’s something they love, too,” Hanna Colenutt said, who is the daughter of owners, Joe and Brenda Gagnon. “With Spring here, we have so many new and exciting things happening here on the farm, so many new animals, and new plans and activities for the summer ahead.”

With activities spread throughout the property, Lazee G Ranch offered a chance to provide learning experiences with horses, including explaining riding techniques, along with areas where visitors could pet the farm animals and enjoy pony rides.

The open house also served as a way for the farm to give back, collecting donations of non-perishable food items to be donated to the mission and collecting monetary admission donations to feed the animals.

“Honestly, this year is a big year for us. We have a lot of exciting things planned and this open house allows people to checkout and learn about the animals ahead of potential summer camps or birthday parties,” Colenutt continued.

“For the first time in a long time, we’re hosting field trips again. We’ve expanded our summer activities from riding camps and summer camps to have more activities for kids, like a sports camp. We want to explore more and offer more and show how much fun we can have on the farm.”

Colenutt noted they have also expanded to include hayrides, theme nights, and other fun activities. Announcements and other exciting news for programming can be found on its social media page. Colenutt was thankful for everyone who attended the open house and looks forward to seeing everyone back at the farm again soon.
